Your Brain Makes You, You.

The anatomy of the human brain is the same in all people. We have about one hundred billion neurons (nerve cells). Each neuron can be connected to one thousand other neurons, therefore we have up to one hundred trillion connections in the brain. These connections make the neuronal networks in the brain.

So, what is the difference between people’s brains?

The difference is in the neuronal networks in the brain. In simpler terms, the difference is in the brain’s wiring. It depends on the structure and use of the networks. It means that different people, have different networks and use different networks.

How does the brain wire?

The brain’s wiring starts even before we born, during the brain’s formation in the uterus. It will be affected by our genes and our mothers’ thoughts, emotions and behavior. After birth the brain’s wiring will start growing and changing very fast through our learning and experiences. Based on the different environments, experiences, learnings, perceptions and responses, we use different networks and make new networks in our brains. Therefore, we will have different memories, as well as different subconscious and conscious mind.

Can we rewire our brain and become a new person? Yes, we can.

We can train our brain to work the way we want it to work. You can change your subconscious and conscious mind and become a different person. If you want to have a different habit you must learn, think and act differently for about eight weeks. Your brain rewires and the brain itself starts working differently and therefore you behave differently. The change is difficult because for long term change, the brain must rewire. Rewiring the brain takes time and most people are not patient enough and they want to change as soon as they make the decision to change. You must pay the price in advance. It is not like a restaurant where you eat first and then pay, you must pay the price first. You also must stick to the new behavior and do not go back and forth between the old and new habit. The old road must go, and a new road needs to be built and be used from now on. As soon as you see yourself on the old road, you need to turn around and go back to the new road.

THE HUMAN BRAIN CAN DO ANYTHING IF IT THINKS IT CAN DO IT.

Do not get discouraged, you can do it.

SUGGESTIONS

Know exactly what you want to change and why. It needs to be your own want and why, not others’.

Imagine the person you wish to be.

If you form a picture in your mind of what you would like to be, and keep and hold that picture long enough, you will soon become as you have been thinking.

_William James

Act and talk as if you are the person you wish to be.

“Act the way you’d like to be and soon you’ll be the way you act.”

_Leonard Cohen

Be persistent,

“It’s always too early to quit.”

Norman Vincent Peale

Do not worry if you fail when you are in middle of the process. Keep on trying.  It will get easier over time and you will have a breakthrough. Your brain will rewire, and you will see a different horizon. Your faith and belief in yourself will increase and you will be able to overcome other obstacles in your life.

Good Luck
